Why it matters

Screen work has a recovery problem.

Long screen days drain focus, and most teams have no calm, private way to notice it and recover.

Employees

Dry, tired eyes, headaches, blurred focus and harder attention-switching by the end of a long screen day.

Managers

Result metrics exist, but there's no view into the team's recovery patterns.

HR / People Ops

Wellbeing programs are often too generic and disconnected from real screen load.

Remote / hybrid

Different setups, ergonomics, screens and load — teams need one private, simple recovery process.

How Moru works

Check. Recover. Return to focus.

Check

A short check — the camera runs only during the session; eye-tracking calibrates and gauges focus stability.

Recover

A short guided recovery session: blinking, shifting focus, fixation and easing attention.

Return

Get a personal result and head back to work; the desktop widget can remind you of the next session.

Common questions

What is digital eye strain?

Digital eye strain (also called computer vision syndrome) is a group of eye and vision-related problems caused by prolonged screen use: dry or tired eyes, headaches, blurred vision, and difficulty shifting attention. It affects most people who spend more than two hours a day in front of a screen.

Is Moru a medical product?

No. Moru is a wellness and recovery product, not a medical device. It is designed to help people notice digital fatigue earlier and build a calmer screen work rhythm. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition. If you have eye health concerns, consult a qualified eye-care professional.

Why does Moru need camera access?

Moru uses your camera to perform an eye-tracking calibration and a short focus check — the same way you would use a fitness app that needs motion sensors. Raw video is not stored by default: the camera runs only during your active session, and only derived signals (blink rate, fixation stability) are used. You remain in control and can end the session at any time.

Does the 20-20-20 rule help?

Research suggests yes — taking a 20-second break every 20 minutes to look at something 20 feet away reduces accommodation strain and helps refresh focus. Moru structures your work rhythm around evidence-backed micro-breaks rather than expecting you to remember them yourself.

Is blue light the main problem?

Blue light is one factor, but research indicates that the primary drivers of digital eye strain are reduced blink rate, sustained near-focus, and glare — not blue light alone. Screen time affects blink frequency, which in turn causes dryness and fatigue. Moru targets those behavioral patterns rather than relying on tinted filters.

How often should I use Moru?

A 2-minute check once every 90–120 minutes of focused screen work is a good starting rhythm. The desktop widget can remind you at custom intervals. As with any wellness habit, consistency matters more than intensity — short, regular sessions build a more sustainable recovery pattern than one long session per day.

Can I use Moru without installing an app?

Yes. Moru runs as a Progressive Web App (PWA) directly in your browser — no download, no App Store. You can install it to your home screen or taskbar for faster access, but this is optional. The desktop widget (macOS / Windows) is a separate installable companion for passive session reminders.
